EAT ME ( Donuts )
Most of my trompe lʼoeil works are recreations (copies if you will) of rather small, common objects-- things that are known and familiar to all. EAT ME is the largest and most ambitious of these faux object pieces, and the only one in which the objects themselves are used as elements (pixels?) of a larger whole, in this case five foot tall letters that spell out its title. One might be able to imagine these 558 donuts coming together to communicate their wish for their intended destiny, to be consumed. One can nearly hear their siren call to enjoyment, sensuality and sin. But taken at their face value, in contemporary parlance these words are an insult of high magnitude and gutter level vulgarity.
